"Front wheel broke - no replacement available for two months" 2010-07-26
By MS
I used the stroller for 13 months when one of the front wheels fell off - the wheel bearing broke. When I called the company to order replacement they told me they will not have any replacement wheels available for next two months. I guess they think I should sit with my daughter at home for two months while we are waiting for the part. Seems like I will be buying a new stroller, it will definitely not be a Baby Jogger!

"Ideal for the city parent" 2010-07-23
By Gracejoy (New York, NY United States)
Okay, I love this stroller! It's not perfect, but for someone (like me) living in a small apartment in a walk-up building, and using it on all kinds of city streets, it is just about as good as it gets. Let me start by saying that my baby is 16 months old and, for the last year, we have been using a lightweight, full-featured umbrella stroller. That stroller is a great stroller, no question about it, but for our needs . . . the City Mini is just better.

It started when I noticed my upstairs neighbor taking her City Mini, and her baby, up and down our stairs with relative ease. Though I had always been happy with our stroller, I couldn't help but notice that hers seemed easier. I tried it out several times and was impressed. And after a few weeks, I finally splurged and bought the City Mini myself, even though I had sworn to my husband and myself that I'd never buy another stroller. I do not regret it one bit, because:

1. The City Mini is really ridiculously easy to fold and unfold. To fold, you literally just pull up with one hand. I can do it easily while holding my baby and then carry both him and the stroller up the stairs. Even though the City Mini, is quite a bit heavier than my 11 lb. umbrella stroller, I find it easier to get up and down - it's like carrying a heavy shopping bag in one hand. With the umbrella stroller, I had to bend to fold it, and then it was just more awkward/bulky to carry, even with the carry-strap. It ended up taking more energy even though it was lighter. Likewise on public transport, the City Mini is so easy to just fold and get on the bus, subway, whatever.

2. The City Mini sunshade canopy is great. It goes from big to bigger and has two peek-a-boo windows, which I love. Protection from sun, wind, and light rain is great.

3. It is SO easy to steer and push. Even going slightly uphill, I can literally push it with one finger. I thought my umbrella stroller had a smooth ride (and it does, compared to other umbrellas), but the City Mini blows it out of the water. (This feature is what made my husband, who thought I was insane for buying another stroller, decide that I had been right after all. He couldn't deny how much smoother the ride was.)

4. I'm fairly tall, and I don't kick the back when I walk. That was a problem with many of the strollers I had tried in the store (though, to its credit, the umbrella stroller I finally bought - the UppaBaby G-Luxe -- is also perfect for tall parents).

5. It reclines nearly flat. Naptime, anyone?

Now, as I said, the City Mini is not perfect. There's no such thing as a perfect stroller. My complaints? The seat back is not as supportive as I would like, and my baby slouches in it more than he did in the other stroller. The one-piece handlebar makes it hard to hang a bag from it; you have to use a bag with really long straps, or buy a separate stroller bag hook. I also find the rubber on the handlebar a little more hot/uncomfortable in the summer than the cool foam handles of my other stroller. The City Mini storage basket is fairly large but a little bit hard to access (not impossible - just not quite as easy as some other strollers). And the stroller does not stand when folded, so you have to prop it up against something or just hold onto it. This is the one feature my umbrella stroller has that I really miss. The first time I took my City Mini on the subway and had to prop it against the wall while I bought a Metrocard, the concrete scuffed the handlebar. Not cool.

Nevertheless, when you factor in the wonderful sunshade, the fantastic maneuveribility, and the incredible one-handed fold, the above complaints fade the background -- the City Mini still takes the cake.

If you are a city-dweller like me and debating between a City Mini and an umbrella stroller (like UppaBaby G-luxe or Maclaren), I hope you find this review particularly useful. I loved my umbrella stroller (so much, in fact, and for so long, that I almost feel like I'm cheating on it). Still, all things considered, I wish I had bought the City Mini first.

"love it....love it ....love it" 2010-07-04
By Ark angel (jamaica)
i love this stroller. It took 4 months researching strollers because I wanted something that reclined for my newborn, was easy to manoeuvre, and lightweight. This is all of the above.

It had full recline for my baby when he was newborn, and now that he is older, it also has everything in between for him to sleep, or just relax. The recline mechanism is also very simple (just a squeeze cord that releases the back and allows it to fall, or to be raised) and I can recline it without waking my baby because I control how it reclines and there is no sudden jerk.

It really is one handed strolling. and goes almost everywhere and fits in tighter spaces with easy manoeuvrability. Even though it is the city version, I took it on vacation to the beach, and it even did sand, It wont push easily over heavy and/or wet sand, but was great to move along the more compact sand, which allowed me to carry my heavy baby and all the other stuff we need at the beach.

The storage space is ok..holds a diaper bag. I actually just throw whatever I need in the underbasket to avoid fighting to take a diaper bag in and out since the space can be a bit tight with the baby in. Everything else (stuff that I want more frequently)goes in the second storage bag at the back, since it it much easier to access. That's where i put my water bottle because there is no cup/bottle holder which I would expect on a jogger...even if it is the city version.

The sunshade is EXCELLENT and has 3 or 4 different adjustable levels. The 2 peek-a-boo windows allow me to see him with the canopy down...despite how I adjust the shade.

It has a 5 point adjustable harness which is a great safety feature and adjusts as baby grows.

It is one of the lightest full sized strollers and the fold mechanism is GREAT. There is a strap in the seat that you simply pull up and the stroller folds flat and is easy to put into the car trunk even with baby in hand. I read a claim that the city mini was compliant with flight specs and could be carried on flight to fit in the overhead bin....but I doubt that, since it is still wide when folded. It is no umbrella stroller.

Another drawback is that it doesn't stand on it own, but i lean it against the wall and it stays put. I wish it folded the other way, since the seat part that my baby is in contact with, it the part left exposed when folded. I throw a cloth over it when folded to keep off the dust.

My son is 9 months now, and we've loved it from the start.Seems quite comfy. My son loves to stroll in it. He relaxes and swings his feet and eventually falls asleep. When he gets miserable and wont sleep, I take him for a stroll and IT WORKS EVERY TIME!

Overall great and would highly recommend it to eveyone

"Wheels fell off - where are my replacement parts?" 2010-07-04
By J. Snider (Chicago, IL USA)
I really liked this stroller for the first 14 months or so. That is until the front wheel assembly fell apart and the wheels fell off (yes, with my kid in it). I ordered a replacement assembly May 17, and here it is the 4th of July and still no delivery. Needless to say I have had to replace the stroller. Should have lasted longer - disappointing.

 "8 Pros, 1 Con" 2010-06-29
By Maggie (California)
This stroller has wonderful features that include:

Pros:

* Fits in half of trunk. Meaning, when I fold it and put it in the trunk of my prius, it take up one side, but I can also put things like grocery bags on top of it, or store stuff under it. My old stroller filled the entire trunk and left absolutely no room for anything else.
Also, I can pull the privacy screen over the stroller, so that passerby's can't see what is in my trunk!

* I can hold my squirming baby on one arm, and fold up the stroller with the other hand, then carry both baby and stroller to the car. I load the car this way. Before I had to put baby in carseat, then go back and collapse stroller and load into car.

* This stroller collapses so incredibly easy, with the pull of a strap that is located in the seat of the stroller. There is no disassembling, bending over, heaving and lugging, etc. It is very light and manageable.

* I can push the stroller with one finger, even with baby in stroller, and bag in basket, and bag hanging off handlebars!

* The stroller has a notice that reads, "Do not hang anything off handles," yet I hang a heavy diaper bag off it anyways and when I take the baby out of stroller, the stroller remains upright! Also, the basket below holds a lot more than I would expect. I stuff my sweater, child's sweater, some food, water bottle, and my purse in there.

* The canopy is the best! It is high above my baby's head, so that he cannot extend his arms and play with/move it, as he did with the previous stroller. He also doesn't mind the canopy at all, which is great, because he's such a picky child (even at this age!) The canopy has three modes of coverage and it is like an accordion in that it extends out or in. It has two peek-a-boo windows that are secured back or in place with velcro. The canopy can completely cover my child so that I don't have to worry about the sun burning his legs, yet he can see out and have full view.

* Strapping my baby in the stroller is soooo easy. It has the shoulder strap which snaps into the bottom. There is no hooking pieces together like in some other strollers and this is a time and headache saver for those who have a child like mine who squirms and pulls on straps while you're trying to fasten him in.

* So the stroller comes plain, meaning no handlebar, no tray table, nothing. And I prefer this because I like to pick what it has. Sometimes there is a stroller and I think, "That stroller is so great, but I really don't like this feature on it," but with the city mini, I can pick what I want to add to it. This makes the stroller cost more in the end, but I get to put on the features that suit me. In this I chose the tray table, which my son LOVES. It is high for him, since he is still a baby, but when I pull the tray table away, he reaches out and pulls it back in! Also, I can fold the stroller with the tray table in place and the cup holder/storage thingy I have on the handlebars! That was the other thing - the cup holder bar has a place to put keys, phone, etc, and play music (I don't use that part), but other parents have said, "Where did you get that?!" It is quite useful. I also got a raincover that fits perfectly and covers my child completely.

Con:

* The stroller makes my baby slouch. It doesn't seem to be a problem although it did take my son a couple times out in the stroller to get used to it.
